From mid-2025, approximately 37,000 public healthcare workers in Singapore are set to benefit from salary hikes, including allied health professionals (AHPs), pharmacists, and various administrative, ancillary, and support staff. The announcement was made by Health Minister Ong Ye Kung on January 29, coinciding with the first day of Chinese New Year.

Ong highlighted that the Ministry of Health (MOH) is collaborating with other ministries and unions to finalise the specifics of these pay increases, which aim to bolster the healthcare sector by attracting and retaining talent. The last salary adjustments for these groups were made in 2021.

Ong commented, “In the new year, people have many hopes. They hope for good health, happiness, and of course, salary increases and bonuses.”

In addition to the 37,000 workers receiving pay raises, another 26,000 nurses will see more modest increases to their base salary. These nurses are part of the Angel scheme, a retention programme for healthcare staff launched in 2024. Under this scheme, up to S$100,000 in payouts will be provided to 29,000 nurses over the next two decades.

The MOH’s initiative is part of a broader effort to ensure the sustainability and efficiency of Singapore’s public healthcare system, acknowledging the critical role of these workers in providing quality care.
