It’s been a couple of years since we’ve been able to fully celebrate the festive season. Thankfully, this year, there’s no shortage of things to do during our first restriction-free Christmas since the pandemic. Here are six uniquely Singaporean activities to enjoy this festive season:

1. Space Fest @ EXPO
Planning a family outing? Space Fest @ EXPO offers food, shopping, and entertainment for all ages. Experience Singapore’s first 5D virtual-reality cinema, live music, a giant inflatable playground, and kiddy go-karts. Football fans can also catch live screenings of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 matches.

Get a 10% discount on entrance tickets with the promo code MS10OFF for Activity Shuttle Zone 1, where kids can take on space-themed activities.
Where: Singapore EXPO
When: Dec. 3 to 30, 2022

2. Pasar Malam
Pasar malams may not be traditionally Christmassy, but they offer food, games, and shopping right in the heartlands. The festive atmosphere at these markets is undeniable, making them a great Singaporean alternative to Christmas markets. Plus, admission is free.

3. Great Bay Fiesta
At Bayfront, enjoy circus acts, carnival games, and even a winter wonderland with “real” snow. There’s something for everyone at this festive event. If you prefer a more relaxed experience, you can catch The Sound of Music at Sands Theatre till Dec. 18.

4. Changi Festive Village
Singapore’s pride—Changi Airport—is hosting an underground carnival at Terminal 3 with bumper cars, a shooting gallery, and dino-themed go-karting. You can also book a glampcation at Jewel or a sustainability-themed sleepover at Changi Experience Studio.
Where: Changi Airport
When: Till Jan. 2, 2023 (T3 Underground Festival ends Apr. 2, 2023)

5. Penguin Parade
Swap out reindeer for penguins with the Singapore Zoo’s Penguin Parade, a great activity for animal lovers. This is a rare chance to see adorable African penguins up close, with their keepers available to answer questions.
Where: Singapore Zoo
When: Selected dates in November and December

6. Orchard Road
A quintessential Singaporean year-end activity is the annual Christmas light-up along Orchard Road. This year’s display features carnival-themed lights stretching 3km from Tanglin Mall to Plaza Singapura, with carols playing throughout the day. For added fun, visit the Great Christmas Village at Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza, featuring amusement rides, live music, and plenty of food.
Where: Orchard Road
When: Till Jan. 2, 2023

Whether you’re pigging out at a pasar malam or watching the World Cup with friends, it’s the company that truly makes the festive season special. Even without snow, there’s no shortage of ways to celebrate on this little tropical island.
