SINGAPORE — A 67-year-old man was hospitalized on Monday (Jan. 15) after reportedly inflicting several stab wounds on himself at Sun Plaza. Photos shared on social media show the man lying shirtless on the ground, with visible injuries to his chest and blood nearby.

Eyewitness accounts, shared with 8 World News, describe the man standing alone with a knife around 1:40 p.m. before he began to stab himself multiple times. One witness initially thought it was a staged act until the man collapsed on the ground. A bystander then approached to remove the knife from the man’s reach.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) reported receiving a call for assistance at around 2:05 p.m. and subsequently transported the man to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. The Singapore Police Force (SPF) confirmed the man was unconscious upon their arrival and stated that the injuries appeared to be self-inflicted.
