SINGAPORE – Visitor safe management measures at all hospital wards and residential care homes will be tightened from Oct 14 to Nov 10, in response to the rising number of Covid-19 cases in the community. The Ministry of Health (MOH) announced that hospital patients will only be allowed two pre-designated visitors, with only one allowed at the bedside at any given time.
For critically ill patients, up to five pre-designated visitors will be permitted, with a maximum of two at the bedside simultaneously. Each visit will be capped at 30 minutes.
In exceptional cases—such as for critically ill or pediatric patients, birthing or post-partum mothers, or those needing additional care support—hospitals may allow visitors to stay beyond the 30-minute limit, subject to the hospital’s discretion.
Visitors are reminded not to eat or drink in the wards, avoid using patient-designated toilets, and refrain from sitting on patients’ beds.
For residential care homes, up to four pre-designated visitors are allowed per resident, with one visitor permitted at a time, and visits capped at 30 minutes. Visits should continue to be scheduled in advance, and visitors are required to comply with all prevailing safe management measures.
In homes managing active Covid-19 cases, visitations may be temporarily suspended.
