SINGAPORE – The Registers of Electors have been officially certified and will be open for public inspection starting Friday, July 21, as announced by the Elections Department (ELD) on Thursday.
The updated voter rolls show a total of 2,709,455 electors, reflecting an increase of more than 55,000 from the 2,653,942 electors registered during the last general election in 2020.
Eligible voters can verify their details in the registers electronically through the Voter Services section of the ELD website at eld.gov.sg, or by accessing their profile on the Singpass app. Those who prefer offline methods can check at community centers, ServiceSG centers, or make an appointment at the ELD office in Novena.
Individuals who have been removed from the voter rolls for not participating in previous elections are encouraged to apply for their names to be reinstated via the ELD website, allowing them to vote in upcoming elections. This process can be initiated before the Writ of Election is issued.
For the forthcoming presidential election, which must be called by September 13—the last day of President Halimah Yacob’s six-year term—the Writ of Election will be issued by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, detailing the date and location for candidate nominations.
It’s important to note that voters’ names cannot be restored from this point until Nomination Day if the election is uncontested, or until after Polling Day if multiple candidates are running.
Singaporeans residing abroad can register as overseas voters, provided they have spent at least 30 days in Singapore within the three years leading up to their registration. Those already listed in the voter rolls and currently based overseas can apply to vote by post or at designated overseas polling stations located at Singapore missions in cities like Beijing, Canberra, and London.
The registration process for overseas electors remains open year-round via the ELD website, although applications will not be processed from the third day after the Writ of Election is issued until after Nomination Day or Polling Day, depending on the election situation.
As of now, three candidates have declared their intentions to run in the presidential race: former GIC chief investment officer Ng Kok Song, former senior minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam, and entrepreneur George Goh.
