SINGAPORE — The People’s Power Party (PPP) has re-elected Goh Meng Seng as its secretary-general following its recent party congress, where the new central executive committee (CEC) was elected. Founding chairman Syafarin Sariff stepped down, though he retains an advisory role as the “Lifetime Honorary Chairman.” Hobart Lee was named chairman, George Chang as organizing secretary, and William Lim as treasurer. New CEC member Peter Soh will also serve as an advisor.

Goh outlined plans to build PPP’s influence, focusing on a “Separation of Five Powers” model for democratic governance and reinforcing its political strategy. He reaffirmed the party’s commitment to a “grand alliance” with other opposition parties, joining forces with the Democratic Progressive Party, People’s Voice, and the Reform Party in a collective alliance awaiting formal registration.

In the lead-up to the next General Election, PPP is aiming to provide Singaporeans with a robust alternative political choice. The People’s Alliance, announced in June, will formalize its objectives after registration approval, while other opposition parties recently formed “The Coalition,” an informal partnership advocating for collaborative political efforts.
