Chagee, the popular Chinese tea brand, is making a comeback in Singapore after a sudden exit earlier this year. Known for its teas sourced from Yunnan, Chagee previously had up to ten outlets across Singapore before closing its last store in Funan Mall on January 13, 2023. Now, fans who’ve been crossing the Causeway to get their tea fix can look forward to three new Chagee outlets, set to open in August.

These upcoming outlets, located at Raffles City, Plaza Singapura, and Orchard Gateway, will offer a new experience. Unlike the previous take-away-only concept, these stores will feature seating and an expanded menu including desserts and light meals. According to a post on Chagee’s Facebook page, Orchard Gateway is expected to be the first to open.

In response to questions about Amps Tea, which took over Chagee’s former locations, a Chagee spokesperson clarified that the new outlets in Singapore will be company-operated, not franchises, and that Chagee and Amps Tea are unrelated.

Fans like 28-year-old tutor Cen Jiayi, who often bought Chagee milk tea in Johor Bahru, are excited about the reopening. “Offering food for dine-in is a great new concept,” she said, hoping that the brand’s signature tea and food options will come at reasonable prices.

With over 4,500 locations worldwide, including Malaysia and Thailand, Chagee’s return to Singapore promises a fresh twist to its tea culture.
