SINGAPORE – After 17 years, Cathay Cineplexes at AMK Hub will close its doors for good on June 30, according to a post on the cinema operator’s Facebook page. This marks the fourth Cathay closure in two years, following previous shutdowns at The Cathay building in Dhoby Ghaut, Cineleisure Orchard, and Parkway Parade in Marine Parade. The announcement did not mention reasons for the closure or provide details about potential staff impacts.

Screenings will continue until the final session on June 30, with standard tickets available at a reduced price of S$10, down from the usual S$11 to S$16.50. The cinema, which opened on June 16, 2006, features eight halls with a seating capacity of 1,800.

After this closure, Cathay Cineplexes will operate at five remaining locations in Singapore: Causeway Point, Century Square, Downtown East, JEM, and West Mall. Cathay Cineplexes is owned by mm2 Asia, which continues to adapt to a changing cinema landscape as closures mount.
