SINGAPORE – In response to rising workloads and rapidly changing work environments, a growing number of Singaporean employees are turning to generative AI as a productivity solution. A recent PwC report shows that nearly half (47%) of workers report a significant increase in workload, while 68% have observed an accelerated pace of change in their work settings.

To tackle these challenges, over 60% of employees are using generative AI, expecting it to boost their efficiency in the coming year. Workers see AI as not just a time-saving tool but also a way to enhance creativity and output quality, with eight out of ten employees saying they believe AI can improve their creative capabilities.

Despite these advantages, access to AI tools remains uneven across the workforce. Only 28% of employees report consistent access to these technologies, while a third lack the necessary tools, and 24% feel they lack the skills to fully leverage them.

PwC’s report underscores the need for employers to invest in training and technology access to bridge this gap, especially as 81% of Singaporean workers view proficiency in AI as a path to better pay. Skills in emerging tech are now a key factor in job considerations, with 72% of employees stating that upskilling opportunities influence their career decisions.

With over half of employees reporting that their employers provide skill development resources, Singapore’s workforce is moving towards greater AI proficiency, positioning workers to navigate an increasingly tech-driven landscape.
