SINGAPORE – Singapore ranks as the third-most stressed workforce in Southeast Asia, with 38% of employees reporting daily stress, according to Gallup’s State of the Global Workplace: 2024 report. This survey, which assessed employee sentiment across various nations, found that Singapore trails behind Myanmar (48%) and the Philippines (46%) in workplace stress levels.

However, Singapore ranks much lower in daily feelings of anger and sadness, placing eighth in both categories, with only 15% and 14% of respondents, respectively, reporting such emotions.

The study also highlighted Singapore’s low employee engagement, with only 13% of respondents feeling engaged at work. This contrasts sharply with the Philippines, where 35% of workers report high involvement and enthusiasm. Singaporean respondents also showed lukewarm optimism about the job market, with only 44% feeling it is a good time to seek new employment opportunities.

Gallup’s findings underscore the challenges of workplace engagement in Singapore, with low engagement often linked to stress and a lack of fulfillment, suggesting a need for greater focus on workplace satisfaction and well-being initiatives.
