The Registry of Marriages (ROM) and Registry of Muslim Marriages (ROMM) will temporarily operate from the Esplanade Mall starting 14 April 2025. This relocation is due to the redevelopment of their current site at Canning Rise, which will undergo construction from 2025 to 2028.

Transition Timeline
The last day of operations at Canning Rise will be Friday, 11 April 2025, as announced by the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) and the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY). During the transition weekend (12-13 April 2025), in-person appointments and solemnisations at Canning Rise will be unavailable. However, external and video-linked solemnisations will proceed as scheduled.

From Monday, 14 April 2025, services will resume on level three of the Esplanade Mall, utilising part of the former library@esplanade space. Couples with appointments from this date onward will be automatically shifted to the new location and notified accordingly.

Historical Context and Future Plans
ROM and ROMM have operated at Canning Rise since August 1983. The redevelopment aims to transform the site into an enhanced venue for couples, featuring modern solemnisation spaces, green areas, and picturesque photo spots. Key upgrades include a rooftop solemnisation area, energy-efficient systems, and sustainable construction materials.

Details on the revamped Canning Rise facility will be shared closer to its reopening in 2028, with promises of a memorable experience for marrying couples.
