“More than 70 possible victims have been detected beneath the remains of the collapsed State Audit office building in Bangkok, Thailand, following a devastating earthquake in Myanmar on 28 March.

Rescue teams, using scanners provided by the U.S. military, identified signs of bodies or survivors trapped under the wreckage. However, due to the depth of the debris, their exact locations remain unclear. Authorities believe most victims were resting between the 17th and 21st floors when the structure gave way.

So far, only one body has been recovered from the rubble, bringing the total number of fatalities in Bangkok from the earthquake to 14, while 72 individuals are still missing.

Efforts to reach those trapped have been complicated by the absence of a complete architectural blueprint, making it difficult to plan the safest approach for search and rescue teams. Additionally, the building’s thick structural walls are slowing excavation efforts.

To aid in the operation, large cranes have been deployed to remove concrete slabs and clear pathways for rescuers. As efforts continue, families of the missing wait anxiously for updates, hoping for a miracle amid the destruction.”
