An accident occurred along the Causeway towards Woodlands on Monday, Dec. 12, at around 11:06 pm, causing one out of three lanes to be blocked.
The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) shared in a tweet that the incident led to longer wait times for vehicles entering Singapore via the Woodlands checkpoint.
By 12:49 am on Tuesday, ICA provided an update that the blocked lanes had been cleared.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) confirmed they were alerted to the accident at 21 Woodlands Crossing at 9:55 pm, and one person was taken to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.
Photos from the scene show a Singapore-registered car with a damaged bumper.
Traffic delays continued into the next morning. At 9:45 am on Dec. 13, ICA tweeted about heavy departure traffic at Woodlands Checkpoint, attributed to a tailback from Malaysia, likely due to both countries experiencing school holidays.
In November, ICA had advised travellers to expect delays at the land checkpoints during the holiday season and to avoid peak hours for smoother immigration clearance.
