A dispute over cutlery led to a heated altercation between a 64-year-old hawker and a diner at Block 79 Circuit Road on May 2 around 4:30 p.m., as reported by Shin Min Daily News. The incident unfolded when a young man who purchased food from a neighboring fishball noodle stall asked the laksa stall owner, Ms. Liang, for a fork and spoon. When Liang politely declined, explaining he hadn’t ordered from her stall, the man reportedly became agitated, knocking her pots and utensils to the ground.
In response, Liang grabbed the pendant he was wearing, prompting the man to strike her on the head. The situation escalated further as the pendant fell during the scuffle. The food centre’s manager quickly intervened, separating the two and retrieving the pendant.
Police arrived shortly after and escorted the diner away. Liang claimed she felt dizzy following the confrontation and noted that the man had previously behaved unusually, once asking for additional pepper and soy sauce after using up an entire bottle. Helen, the owner of the fishball noodle stall, mentioned that she had already provided him with cutlery, suggesting he might not have noticed.
The police confirmed a report was filed, and the case is under investigation.
