SINGAPORE – The first two Build-to-Order (BTO) projects in the new Bayshore estate are scheduled for release in the second half of 2024, comprising around 1,400 units of two-room flexi, three-room, and four-room flats. Expected to fall under HDB’s new Plus model, these flats offer enhanced subsidies and location perks, including waterfront and city views, but come with a 10-year minimum occupancy period.

Bayshore, a 60-hectare estate and extension of Bedok town, is projected to bring 10,000 new homes by the mid-2030s. Approximately 7,000 units will be public housing, with 3,000 reserved for private development. Speaking at the HDB Awards on October 16, Minister for National Development Desmond Lee highlighted Bayshore’s design emphasis on scenic views, including full-height windows in waterfront-facing units overlooking East Coast Park, or city views for those facing Bedok town. Units will also feature a “beamless” layout, allowing homeowners flexibility in interior design.

In addition to housing, the estate will feature well-connected pathways, linking residents to Bayshore and Bedok South MRT stations on the Thomson-East Coast Line. Bayshore Drive, a central street lined with shops, eateries, medical services, and recreational facilities, will include a 400-metre “transit priority corridor” with bus lanes, cycling paths, and pedestrian-friendly sidewalks. Sustainable design strategies, like solar roofing and a pneumatic waste conveyance system, are also planned.

The public is invited to give feedback on Bayshore’s design plans at an exhibition at HDB Hub, open from October 19.
