SINGAPORE: A recent social media post featuring a woman drinking coffee on an MRT train has stirred discussions among Singaporeans. The photo, uploaded on Feb 19, was captioned, “Take MRT can lim kopi meh?” sparking reactions from netizens about public transport etiquette.

Many users suggested that instead of just taking a photo and sharing it online, the concerned person could have kindly reminded the woman of the rules. One commenter advised, “It’s very simple. Go to the intercom and inform the MRT staff. Explain the situation–that’s all.”

Another user offered a more understanding perspective, suggesting the woman could be a tourist unfamiliar with Singapore’s public transport rules. “You can let them know that they can’t eat in the train,” they said.

However, some felt that it was unnecessary to intervene. “Why make life so difficult for the lady? Please be humble and mind your own business lah,” one netizen remarked.

Others encouraged approaching the situation with kindness, saying, “Call them nicely… I think if we approach them kindly, they will understand.”

While some advocated for reporting such behavior to authorities, others suggested letting it go, debating whether making a big deal out of minor rule-breaking is worth the trouble.
