Children between the ages of six months and four years old in Singapore will soon be able to receive the Moderna Covid-19 vaccine.
Starting from October 2022, the Ministry of Health (MOH) announced that Moderna’s Spikevax Covid-19 vaccine will be available for this age group. Additionally, the Pfizer-BioNTech/Comirnaty vaccine is expected to be available by the end of 2022.
The primary Moderna vaccine series for young children will consist of two doses of 25 micrograms, administered 28 days apart.
On September 28, the Health Sciences Authority (HSA) also approved the use of the Pfizer-BioNTech/Comirnaty vaccine for children aged six months to four years, making it the second vaccine authorized for this age group in Singapore. The Moderna vaccine received approval about a month earlier, on August 24.
The Pfizer-BioNTech/Comirnaty vaccine regimen will involve three doses, each containing 3 micrograms. The first two doses will be given three weeks apart, with the third dose administered at least eight weeks after the second.
