COE Prices Drop Across All Categories, Cat B Sees Biggest Decline

In the first round of bidding for December, Certificate of Entitlement (COE) premiums saw a decline across all categories, with Category B experiencing the largest drop, falling by $8,380.

Cat A COE – Slight Decrease
Premiums for Cat A, which includes cars up to 1,600cc with an output not exceeding 130bhp or electric vehicles up to 110kW, dipped by $2,086 (2.3 per cent), settling at $88,503. This price is now 20.8 per cent above the 12-month trailing average, standing at the 88th percentile of prices from the last 12 months. The total number of bids exceeded the available quota by 34 per cent, slightly below the 12-month average of 41 per cent.

Cat B COE – Biggest Drop
Cat B, which covers cars above 130bhp or engine displacements larger than 1,600cc, saw the sharpest drop with premiums falling by $8,380 (7.4 per cent) to $105,501. This brings the current price to 6.8 per cent above the 12-month trailing average, at the 60th percentile. The number of unsuccessful bids exceeded the available quota by 33 per cent, lower than the 12-month average of 42 per cent.

Cat C COE – Slight Decline
Premiums for Cat C, which includes goods vehicles and buses, fell by $301 (0.4 per cent) to $81,501. The number of unsuccessful bids exceeded the quota by 71 per cent, lower than the 12-month average of 100 per cent.

Cat E COE – Slips to $110,524
In the open category, Cat E premiums dropped by $3,485 (3.1 per cent) to $110,524. This brings premiums 9.9 per cent above the 12-month trailing average. The number of unsuccessful bids exceeded the available quota by 79 per cent, compared to the 12-month average of 61 per cent.
