SINGAPORE – China-based Singaporean pop duo By2 returned to Singapore for the first time in three years. The Mandopop group, consisting of twin sisters Miko and Yumi, posted on Chinese social media platform Weibo last Thursday night, sharing their excitement about heading home for Chinese New Year after eight hours of packing.

“Here we come, Singapore,” they wrote, posting photos of themselves at an airport in China. On Sunday, the sisters, both 30, also shared photos of their flight on Facebook and Instagram with the hashtag #throwback.

Yumi, whose real name is Peh Wei Ling, was involved in the public divorce drama between Taiwanese-American singer Wang Leehom and his estranged wife Lee Jinglei in December 2021. The twins, however, stated in a year-end social media post that they would focus on cherishing happy moments, leaving the past behind.

By2 recently kicked off their 2023 concert tour, completing the Nanjing leg on Jan 15.

Meanwhile, Taiwanese singer-actress Ella Chen from the girl group S.H.E is celebrating Chinese New Year in Malaysia, her husband’s hometown. Chen, 41, married to Malaysian businessman Alvin Lai, shared a post on social media on Friday night showing her cutting durians, writing: “I have to eat durians when I am back in Malaysia. I am opening my own durians.”

Other celebrities have taken to social media to share their growing families during the festivities.

Hong Kong actors Grace Chan and Kevin Cheng introduced their third son, Carlos, born on Jan 11. The couple, who married in 2018, also have two other sons: Rafael, three, and Yannick, two. Chan and Cheng shared a video and photos of their family of five on Sunday, expressing their joy and gratitude for their new addition.

Taiwanese-Australian actress-model Hannah Quinlivan, wife of Taiwanese Mandopop star Jay Chou, also shared a family photo with their three children – Hathaway, seven, Romeo, five, and Jacinda, born in May 2022. Quinlivan wished her followers a happy and prosperous Year of the Rabbit with a playful pun in Chinese.
