As Singaporeans prepare to ring in the Chinese New Year, the authorities have announced extended train and bus services on Chinese New Year Eve, January 28, 2025, to accommodate those out late celebrating the occasion. Commuters will be able to enjoy extra time on public transport, making it easier to travel home after festivities.
For train services, the extensions will cover the North-South, East-West, Circle, and Thomson-East Coast Lines, as confirmed by SMRT Corporation on January 22. Trains on the North-South and East-West lines will depart from City Hall station, with last train departures ranging from 1:15am to 2:14am. However, there will be no extensions for the Bukit Panjang LRT or the Changi Airport line.
In addition to trains, 18 bus services will also be extended on the eve of Chinese New Year. These services will operate from key interchanges, including Choa Chu Kang, Woodlands, Bukit Panjang, and Boon Lay, as well as areas near Choa Chu Kang MRT station. The last bus departures will occur between 2:50am and 3:20am. SBS Transit had previously announced that 19 more bus services, covering interchanges such as Bedok, Bishan, Tampines, and Yishun, would also run longer hours.
Bus operator Tower Transit has also made adjustments to the timings of some of its services for the occasion. Specific changes for these services can be found on their official Facebook pages.
These extended public transport hours provide added convenience for commuters wishing to enjoy the festivities without worrying about transport limitations.
