The ongoing Northeast Monsoon has brought cool, rainy weather to Singapore, and now some misty fog over the Central Business District (CBD).
What causes foggy conditions?
Here’s a quick weather refresher. Fog occurs when there’s heavy rain and a noticeable drop in temperature. Singapore has been experiencing continuous rainfall recently, and this, along with a 1°C temperature drop on Jan. 24 evening, created the foggy conditions.
According to the Meteorological Service Singapore, the rain is expected to continue for the next two days, keeping the cool weather in place.
The temperature in the CBD has dipped to a chilly 22°C, resulting in fog that has obscured the city’s famous skyline.
“Hello Genting” vibes
Denz Pascual Maglalang shared images on Facebook, jokingly comparing the foggy CBD to the cool atmosphere of Genting Highlands. Despite the chilly weather, a few brave individuals were spotted swimming in the Marina Bay Sands infinity pool amidst the fog.
On the ground, the mist partially shrouded some of the towering skyscrapers, as seen in photos shared by a Mothership reader.
Although foggy conditions occasionally happen in Singapore, it will clear up once the sun comes out. Nothing a little sunshine can’t fix!
