SINGAPORE: A LinkedIn report reveals a substantial transformation in job skill demands across Singapore, with a projected 72% shift in skill requirements by 2030, largely due to advancing artificial intelligence (AI) and technology integration within businesses.
The report highlights that 92% of Singaporean companies are prioritizing workforce skill enhancement in response to this shift. Nearly half of these firms plan to introduce online training programs to equip employees with essential AI and technology skills.
With AI and automation reshaping the hiring landscape, 94% of companies indicated a shift in the skills and qualifications they value most, focusing now on candidates with AI expertise, adaptable learning abilities, and robust soft skills. According to LinkedIn, the top five in-demand skills include problem-solving (34%), critical thinking (28%), communication (24%), IT/web skills (20%), and leadership/talent management (20%).
Feon Ang, Vice President of Talent Solutions and Managing Director for APAC at LinkedIn, stressed the need to invest in both technical and soft skills, stating, “Investing in people’s growth is a strategic imperative, as our workforce is the backbone of business success in an AI-driven era.”
In the pursuit of top talent, over 50% of Singaporean employers are focusing on career progression opportunities, with 54% prioritizing internal mobility and 39% emphasizing advancement paths. The report underscores the importance of continuous upskilling and strategic talent development as companies adapt to a rapidly changing employment landscape.
