Starting April 15, all HDB households in Singapore will receive $300 in e-vouchers to help purchase energy- and water-saving appliances like air-conditioners, refrigerators, and washing machines. The expanded Climate Friendly Households Programme, first introduced in 2020, was announced on March 4 by Senior Minister of State for Sustainability and the Environment, Amy Khor, during a budget debate.
Previously, only one- to three-room flats qualified for a $225 voucher for three specific appliances. Now, all 1.1 million HDB households, as well as new owners who move in by 2027, can access the new e-vouchers, which are valid for three years, until Dec. 31, 2027. Available in $2, $5, $10, and $50 denominations, these vouchers come with no restrictions on appliance type, making it easier to adopt energy-efficient upgrades.
Dr. Khor highlighted that the 10 types of appliances covered under this initiative account for about 60% of a household’s typical energy use and 90% of water consumption. This program aims to help residents lower utility costs by making energy and water-efficient appliances more accessible.
To redeem the vouchers, HDB owners can log in to RedeemSG with their Singpass accounts starting April 15 and present the vouchers at any of 14 participating retailers, including Courts, Best Denki, FairPrice, and Dairy Farm Retail Group stores like Giant and Cold Storage.
