Hume MRT station, located along the Downtown Line, will open to the public on February 28, at 3pm, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) confirmed on Friday (January 24). Originally scheduled for the second quarter of 2025, this early opening will offer a significant boost to the area’s connectivity.

Situated along Upper Bukit Timah Road between Hillview and Beauty World stations, Hume station is set to reduce travel times for residents heading into the city centre. Transport Minister Chee Hong Tat highlighted the convenience the new station will bring, noting that journeys to Downtown station, which previously took 45 minutes, will now be cut to just 30 minutes.

Chee also pointed out that the station will provide easier access to nearby attractions such as the Former Ford Factory and the Rail Corridor. The station will feature two entrances, one on Upper Bukit Timah Road and the other on Hume Avenue. Commuters will benefit from sheltered access to bus stops and pick-up points via covered linkways.

For those using active mobility, 60 bicycle parking spaces will be available near the station entrances. Hume station will become the 35th fully operational station on the Downtown Line.

Minister Chee also stated that the opening of Hume station brings the country closer to its goal of ensuring that 80% of households are within a 10-minute walk from a train station by the 2030s. “We are committed to expanding the rail network to enhance connectivity and improve convenience for commuters,” he added.
