A former driver for Leon Perera has come forward with allegations about the Workers’ Party MP’s purported relationship with fellow party member Nicole Seah. Speaking anonymously to AsiaOne on July 18, the 80-year-old ex-driver, identified only as Tan, recounted his experiences during his 11 years of service for Perera.

Tan claimed he often saw Perera and Seah together in his car, noting that they spoke softly and were observed holding hands. “I feel that he has let his family and the party down,” Tan remarked.

His comments come in the wake of a video that surfaced on July 17, showing Perera and Seah sharing a tender moment at a restaurant. Both politicians are married and have two children each. The Workers’ Party has acknowledged the video and is currently investigating the situation.

Having worked for Perera from 2010 until 2021, Tan asserted that he had attempted to bring the alleged relationship to the attention of party leaders, including Pritam Singh, as early as 2020. Despite his efforts, he felt that no action was taken.

Tan recalled an incident in 2020 when Perera asked him to drop him off at a hotel, and claimed to have seen Seah leaving the premises through the rearview mirror. He described a pattern of hotel visits, noting that these encounters caused tension between him and Perera.

While Tan did not confront Perera directly about the alleged affair, he expressed frustration that the party leadership did not respond decisively to his concerns. His employment ended in 2021, reportedly due to a lack of familiarity with GPS, a reason he believes was merely an excuse.

Despite the potential for legal repercussions, Tan feels unafraid to share his story, stating, “What will they do? Sue me? I’m telling the truth.” He has reached out to various media outlets following the recent scrutiny surrounding Perera and Seah.

AsiaOne has sought comments from the Workers’ Party, as well as from Perera and Seah.
