SINGAPORE: Workers’ Party MP Jamus Lim recently expressed his gratitude to the property team at Sengkang GRC by treating them to a hearty meal. In a Facebook post on April 25, he acknowledged the significant yet often overlooked roles played by the conservancy and cleaning crew, maintenance staff, technicians, and officers in maintaining the estate’s healthy condition.
Lim’s tradition of showing appreciation through shared meals reflects lessons learned from his mother. He mentioned that the #TeamSengkang members are now accustomed to this form of gratitude, with such meals happening periodically.
“Yesterday afternoon marked another occasion, where we gathered the teams from #Anchorvale and #Compassvale for a thank-you lunch featuring chicken biryani,” he wrote. Lim also took the opportunity to extend belated Eid Mubarak wishes to his “Bangladeshi friends” on the team, stating, “While we couldn’t break bread together as a group this time, we look forward to doing so next round!”
On a lighter note, Lim commented on the workers’ preferred beverage, revealing, “Despite the absence of ice on a scorching day, warm Coke was the overwhelmingly favored drink, preferred over Yeo’s options. It seems that those working on the ground enjoy that extra burst of sugar as a special treat.”
This was not the first time Lim has shown appreciation to the property team. In May of the previous year, after many COVID-19 restrictions were lifted, he shared photos from another biryani lunch, highlighting how it was a valuable opportunity to connect with the individuals responsible for keeping the estate in pristine condition and to convey encouragement to #TeamSengkang, while also wishing a belated Eid Mubarak to those who celebrate.
