SINGAPORE – Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim will arrive in Singapore on Wednesday, September 13, to participate in the Milken Institute Asia Summit 2023. Hosted by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Mrs. Lee, Mr. Anwar will be accompanied by his wife, Datuk Seri Dr. Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, for a tea reception with Singapore’s leaders.

Mr. Anwar, who also serves as Malaysia’s Minister of Finance, is scheduled to speak at the summit, a prestigious three-day event that gathers influential leaders to discuss global issues and innovative solutions. Among other notable speakers at the summit are Singapore’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong, Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., U.S. Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo, Academy Award-winning actor Ke Huy Quan, and McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown.

The Milken Institute, a non-profit, non-partisan think tank, focuses on fostering impactful change across financial, physical, mental, and environmental health sectors. Through its gatherings, the organization aims to generate actionable solutions to pressing global challenges.

Mr. Anwar will be accompanied on this trip by Malaysia’s Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, and Foreign Minister Zambry Abd Kadir. This marks Mr. Anwar’s second visit to Singapore since assuming office on November 24, following his initial official visit on January 30. During that first visit, he met with President Halimah Yacob and PM Lee and witnessed the signing of agreements aimed at enhancing cooperation in the digital and green economies, as well as data protection and cybersecurity.
