A man allegedly assaulted a woman on Mar. 23, dragging her by the hair and choking her during an altercation. The woman, in a desperate attempt to prevent him from leaving, sat on his Porsche, but he reportedly sped off, causing her to be thrown from the vehicle.

According to the woman, Michelle (not her real name), 31, the incident began after a night out at Zouk on Mar. 22, where she and the 27-year-old man had gone together. The man, who invited her, claimed to have little money, showing her his bank account with only S$130. To be courteous to the host of the table, Michelle offered to pay for drinks.

By the end of the night, both were heavily intoxicated. Michelle, resting in the passenger seat of the man’s Porsche in a nearby carpark, asked him to drop her off at a location where she could book a ride home. But the man suddenly flew into a drunken rage, pulling her out of the car by her hair and assaulting her.

Michelle recounted that he “choke slammed” her and continued choking her with such force that she struggled to breathe. In self-defense, she scratched his hands to break free. As the man tried to flee in his car, she sat on the bonnet to prevent him from leaving while calling the police. The man allegedly accelerated at full throttle, causing her to be thrown from the car, resulting in injuries.

Michelle was treated at Mount Elizabeth Hospital for a deep laceration on her forehead, a cut on the muscle near her temple, and various abrasions. The incident left her physically injured, with bruises and neck pain, and emotionally traumatized. She said she now struggles to leave her house due to fear.

The Singapore Police Force confirmed that the man was arrested for a rash act causing hurt and is currently out on bail as investigations continue.
