“A 35-year-old man was sentenced to one year and 10 weeks in prison after being caught stashing drugs in bushes outside the State Courts just before attending a pre-trial hearing.

On October 24, 2023, Sajan Oberoi consumed methamphetamine at home before heading to court for an ongoing case. Before entering the building, he attempted to hide a packet containing methamphetamine and other items outside, intending to retrieve it later. However, police officers at the scene noticed his suspicious behaviour and intervened.

Oberoi, an Indian national and Singapore Permanent Resident, pleaded guilty to five charges, including drug-related offences. An additional 15 charges, involving criminal intimidation, the use of criminal force, and other drug offences, were taken into consideration during sentencing.

Beyond drug-related crimes, Oberoi also admitted to other acts of violence. In August 2024, he assaulted a 35-year-old man at a Boat Quay bar by striking him on the head with a beer bottle. He was also found guilty of molesting a female server at a bar in 2023.”
