SINGAPORE: A netizen expressed his disbelief after receiving a hefty parking charge of $50 for just 14 minutes at Golden Mile Tower. “Most expensive parking in Singapore. $50 for 14 minutes in Golden Mile Tower. #LHN,” posted Mr. Frank Ly on the Complaint Singapore Facebook page on August 14.
He shared side-by-side images of the parking rates displayed at the venue alongside his payment receipt, indicating a potential error in the charge. The posted rates at Golden Mile Tower state that parking costs $2.82 per hour from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, and $2.31 from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
However, his receipt tells a different story. It shows he entered the car park at 1:19:43 p.m. on August 13 and exited at 1:33:13 p.m., with a total parked time of 14 minutes. Yet, the receipt indicated he had paid $50 (inclusive of GST). Adding to his frustration, the receipt also displayed a remaining balance of $5.47, along with the cheerful message, “HAVE A NICE DAY.”
Many commenters on his post were equally puzzled by the exorbitant charge, with several suggesting that it was likely a system error. They urged Mr. Ly to report the incident to seek a refund.
The Independent Singapore has reached out to Mr. Frank Ly and Golden Mile Tower for further comments and updates. Golden Mile Tower, in turn, referred inquiries to LHN Parking, the car park management.
