“Manhattan Fish Market has officially ceased operations in Singapore, with its last remaining outlet at Northpoint City closing its doors. The seafood chain did not make any formal announcements on its website or social media, but Google Maps now lists the location as “permanently closed,” with no other branches active in the country.
Reports indicate that the final Singapore branch, located in Yishun, shut down last week. A search for outlets on the restaurant’s website resulted in an error message, and its most recent posts on Facebook and Instagram date back to 22 November 2023.
The restaurant, once popular for its fish and chips alongside a variety of grilled and battered seafood dishes, previously operated up to 10 locations across Singapore. These included outlets in Tampines Mall, Changi City Point, Suntec City, and Kallang Wave Mall, all of which gradually shut down over time.
On 12 February, former manager Shei Del Rosario shared a social media post confirming the closure. Meanwhile, an online search shows that Manhattan Fish Market continues to operate in Malaysia, where the brand originated.
In a notable legal dispute, the chain was previously involved in a lawsuit with competitor Fish & Co. In 2009, the High Court ordered Manhattan Fish Market to pay $269,000 in damages after accusations of using confidential information and replicating Fish & Co’s restaurant concepts.
AsiaOne has contacted Manhattan Fish Market for further details regarding the closure.”
