A violent slashing incident at Pasir Ris West Plaza on Dec. 20, 2023, left four people injured, according to reports from The Straits Times, Lianhe Zaobao, and CNA. Authorities received a call for assistance at Block 734 Pasir Ris Street 72 at around 4:50pm.
Two men, aged 61 and 53, and two women, aged 53 and 55, were transported to a hospital for treatment. Police confirmed that the 61-year-old male was subsequently arrested for voluntarily causing grievous hurt with a dangerous weapon, indicating that those involved were acquaintances but “not on friendly terms.”
When Mothership arrived at the scene, police officers were conducting an extended investigation. A large area around the shops was cordoned off, and blood-stained items were visible at the crime scene. The attack appeared to have originated from a dispute between neighboring stores, with one video showing an injured woman outside a store called Royal Regent, shouting about an altercation with someone from a nearby store.
Eyewitnesses told The Straits Times that about 30 police officers, including members of the Emergency Response Team (ERT), arrived at the scene. These ERT officers, trained to handle high-risk situations involving weapons, were equipped with firearms and protective gear. Police investigations are ongoing to determine the cause and details of the incident.
