On the anonymous NUSWhispers Facebook page on Friday (Oct 7), a netizen made a surprising claim that he and his partner “have cheated multiple times,” adding that this has not soured their relationship at all.
“In fact, I feel that allowing it to happen strengthens our bond and builds trust. We all have our needs, wants, and desires, and sometimes we are unable to fulfill them with just one person,” he wrote.
He went on to explain that neither he nor his partner is “good at everything,” and therefore they occasionally look for “other partners” to meet certain needs.
The twist came in the final paragraph of his post:
“We try not to get caught, but nowadays, technology is making it pretty difficult. For example, our last ordeal was when they shuffled the questions AND answer choices. Even when I’m sitting right beside my partner, her ‘Question 4’ and my ‘Question 4’ are totally different, which makes it harder to cheat because we can’t simply whisper the answers to each other.”
What initially seemed like a confession about infidelity was actually about a different kind of cheating—exams!
The netizen’s post quickly went viral, and many commenters were initially outraged by his “hot take” on cheating.
However, as more people caught on to the punchline, the mood shifted from outrage to amusement. Some readers who didn’t read the post till the end misunderstood the entire meaning, while others, including the page admin, recognized the twist right away and called him out on it.
This post serves as a reminder that sometimes, things aren’t always what they seem—and it’s best to read through to the end before jumping to conclusions. /TISG
