SINGAPORE — A Facebook user posted a photo on Saturday (Jan 28) showing two women on public transport without masks, captioning it: “Women’s with special privilege without masking?”

This sparked a debate among netizens, with some questioning why the individuals were not adhering to Covid-19 safety protocols, while others speculated they might have simply forgotten, as many do. Some also expressed disappointment over the situation.

One commenter admitted: “I confess…I did not wear a mask on the train last week. I didn’t even notice until I left the MRT station. No excuse. It was my mistake. Thankfully, I wasn’t photographed and posted online. Please inform the passenger if you come across one without a mask. It could be an honest oversight. I’m now more mindful with my mask on public transport.”

Another user added, “Sometimes people just forget. Why don’t you offer them a mask if it bothers you?”

Several others shared similar experiences, acknowledging they too had forgotten their masks while using public transportation.
