Cédric Grolet Singapore officially welcomed its first customers on September 14, drawing long lines outside the store in Orchard’s Como Orchard. Known globally for his picture-perfect viennoiseries like croissants and pain au chocolats, Grolet’s pastries have a dedicated following, with some items available only on-site—prompting an eager crowd to form early in the morning.
By 7:48 a.m., approximately 30 to 40 people had gathered in line. Although the store’s website listed its opening hours from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., doors opened slightly later at 8:30 a.m. as final preparations were underway. By then, the queue had swelled to 50 to 60 people, divided into sections for dine-in, takeaway, and pre-ordered collections via the shop’s click & collect service. The store seats around 40 people, with half of the seating reserved for walk-ins.
As the opening time neared, Grolet’s team came out to greet those in line, offering fist-bumps and, shortly after, small pastries as a treat for the dedicated crowd. Grolet himself then made an appearance, sporting stylish rabbit-patterned pants, much to the crowd’s delight.
The first in line was a duo who had arrived at 6:05 a.m., including a pastry chef who had followed Grolet’s work for some time. Taking advantage of a day off, she seized the opportunity to sample the acclaimed pastries firsthand.
Cédric Grolet Singapore is located at Como Orchard, 30 Bideford Rd, Level 2, and is open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
