SINGAPORE — While expressing gratitude to The Workers’ Party (WP) volunteers for their efforts this year, WP secretary-general and Leader of the Opposition Pritam Singh extended an invitation to Singaporeans to step up and volunteer. “Join us to make a difference to your local community!” he encouraged in a Facebook post on Christmas Day.
Over the past two weeks, Mr. Singh has been meeting with various groups of volunteers to thank them for their “tireless efforts across a range of activities,” including public-facing roles such as meet-the-people sessions, house visits, and event organization.
He also acknowledged the behind-the-scenes contributions of other volunteers, working in areas such as policy, media, and party administration.
Volunteering, he noted, “is not always easy, and it certainly does not come with any rewards.” Yet, despite the challenges, Singh believes in the importance of civic engagement and called on more people to get involved, especially residents of Aljunied, Hougang, and Sengkang—constituencies represented by The Workers’ Party.
His message was not just limited to WP-held areas. He extended the invitation to those living further afield, urging passionate and committed Singaporeans to volunteer, noting that “two to four hours per month” could make “a world of difference” in bringing about the political balance the WP seeks for the country.
For those interested, Singh provided an email (volunteer@wp.sg) to reach out and get involved.
He concluded his post by wishing everyone well, saying, “Merry Christmas and Season’s Greetings! May the new year ahead be blessed, peaceful, and memorable for you and your families!”
