Mediacorp actress Rebecca Lim, 36, tied the knot with her Singaporean beau, Matthew Webster, 36, on Nov. 27, 2022. Webster is the assistant vice president of corporate branding at PSA Singapore. Their wedding comes just over a year after Lim announced their engagement.
Wanted to share the joy with many
Speaking to Mothership over the phone, Lim shared that while they initially estimated having 40 tables of guests, they ended up with 600 guests across 60 tables.
“We wanted to share the joy with as many people as possible, especially since restrictions have been lifted,” Lim explained.
After consulting with their wedding planner, they were told the maximum number of tables the venue could hold was 60 to ensure there was enough space for the aisle.
“We really maxed it out,” Lim joked.
Star-studded celebration
The wedding saw plenty of star power with celebrity guests like Sharon Au, who flew in from Paris, and Hossan Leong, who emceed the event. Other celebs in attendance included Christopher Lee, Fann Wong, Romeo Tan, and Elvin Ng.
A chill wedding day
Lim described her wedding as a “chill” affair, with no wedding gatecrash.
“We didn’t want to wake up too early and wanted to keep it simple yet meaningful,” she said. Preparations began at 11am, followed by the tea ceremony, solemnization, and dinner reception at the Ritz-Carlton.
Lim shared a funny moment, saying she had forgotten she needed more than one dress for the day. Two weeks before the wedding, her planner reminded her, leading her to quickly decide on two other dresses within a week.
Wedding before the Year of the Tiger ends
Lim and Webster, both born in the Year of the Tiger, were keen to marry before the lunar year ended.
“We’re both Tiger babies, so we really wanted to get married before Chinese New Year,” Lim shared. “We’re glad we did.”
The couple plans to live with Webster’s family while their home undergoes renovation, with a move-in date set for mid-2023.
Background
Lim announced her engagement on Nov. 15, 2021, with a lively proposal featuring balloons and marquee lights spelling “Marry me.”
She later shared a clearer shot of Webster on Nov. 21, thanking everyone for their love and support.
