Scoot Apologises for Failing to Notify Passengers of Flight Delays from Bangkok to Singapore

A Scoot flight traveling from Bangkok, Thailand to Singapore was forced to turn back to the Thai capital on May 8.

Flight TR605 took off from Bangkok at 3:56 PM local time (4:56 PM Singapore time) and was originally scheduled to arrive in Singapore at 7:15 PM. However, the flight returned due to a technical fault.

Scoot issued an apology for the disruption and the inconvenience caused. A spokesperson for the airline explained to Mothership that the decision to return to Bangkok was made as a precautionary safety measure.

On board the aircraft were 230 passengers and eight crew members. The plane successfully landed back in Bangkok at 5:09 PM local time, where passengers were provided with refreshments.

Contrary to some reports, Mothership clarified that the “smoke” seen in images circulating online was unrelated to the flight delay. The phenomenon is attributed to mist forming in the cabin due to the condensation of hot, humid air outside as it mixes with the relatively cooler, dry air inside the aircraft’s air conditioning system. This occurrence is more common in hotter climates such as those in Bangkok, Singapore, and other Southeast Asian countries.

The Airbus A321 had to perform loops near southern Thailand before returning to Bangkok, as tracked by Flightradar24. After the technical fault was rectified, the aircraft departed Suvarnabhumi Airport again at 7:27 PM local time and arrived in Singapore at 10:26 PM.

“The safety of our customers and crew is our top priority. We will continue to provide assistance to our customers where possible,” the airline stated.
