SINGAPORE – Harpreet Singh, Senior Counsel of the Supreme Court of Singapore, has once again been seen with members of The Workers’ Party (WP), this time donning the party’s signature light blue polo shirt with the WP logo. The lawyer’s recent appearances have sparked speculation that he may be gearing up for the next General Election.
Mr. Singh first joined WP members in a walkabout at Marine Parade in August. His latest appearances, however, were on back-to-back days over the weekend of September 23–24. On Saturday, he joined a WP team in Marine Parade, with Mr. Fadli Fawzi, a candidate from WP’s 2020 General Election team, sharing photos of the group’s outreach at Lorong G Telok Kurau. In a social media post, Fadli noted that while residents appreciate their neighborhood, they expressed concerns about rising living costs and their children’s futures. “This concern for the next generation is something we all share,” he wrote.
On Sunday, Mr. Singh joined WP members, including prominent leaders like WP Secretary-General Pritam Singh and party chair Sylvia Lim, at Bedok Market to distribute the party’s newsletter, The Hammer. The WP team, which also included Aljunied and Sengkang GRC MPs, braved the rainy weather to connect with residents at two markets in Aljunied and East Coast GRC.
WP’s Facebook post read, “Hello Bedok! In our weekly Hammer Outreach, Team WP met many residents who braced the rainy weather to have their favorite hawker breakfast… Many thanks for the warm reception and words of encouragement!”
The sightings of Mr. Singh in WP attire have led to speculation that the Senior Counsel might formally join the party in the lead-up to the next election.
