“SINGAPORE: In celebration of Singapore’s 60th anniversary of independence, Prime Minister Lawrence Wong introduced the SG60 Package as part of Budget 2025 on Tuesday (18 Feb). The package offers a range of benefits aimed at alleviating cost of living pressures and recognising the contributions of all Singaporeans.
“2025 marks six decades of independence—a testament to the determination and resilience of generations of Singaporeans,” said Prime Minister Wong. He explained that the SG60 Package is designed to share the nation’s progress and express gratitude to its citizens.
What does the SG60 Package include?
All Singaporeans aged 21 and above in 2025 will receive $600 in SG60 Vouchers. In addition, seniors aged 60 and above will get an extra $200, totalling $800. Distribution of these vouchers will begin in July 2025, with seniors receiving theirs first. The vouchers can be spent at businesses accepting CDC Vouchers, including participating grocery stores, local businesses, and hawker stalls.
Additionally, a 60% Personal Income Tax Rebate has been introduced for the Year of Assessment 2025, capped at $200. This measure primarily benefits middle-income earners, according to Mr Wong.
Prime Minister Wong also confirmed that all babies born to Singaporean citizens in 2025 would receive a special SG60 Baby Gift. This initiative was first mentioned by Minister Indranee Rajah, who is expected to provide more details by early March.
New Cultural and Recreational Perks
To promote participation in local arts and cultural events, the SG60 Package includes the SG Culture Pass. Singaporeans aged 18 and above will receive $100 in credits, which can be used for various cultural activities, such as museum exhibitions, heritage experiences, and performing arts. These credits will be available from September 2025 and remain valid until the end of 2028.
In addition, Active SG members will receive a $100 credit top-up as part of the package.
Support for Hawker Culture and Infrastructure Upgrades
To commemorate the fifth anniversary of Singapore’s Hawker Culture being recognised on UNESCO’s list of Intangible Cultural Heritage, each stall in centres managed by government agencies or their appointed operators will receive $600 in rental support.
Moreover, the government plans to invest up to $1 billion over the next 20 to 30 years to modernise ageing hawker centres and construct new ones.
The SG60 Package aims to celebrate Singapore’s remarkable journey while supporting citizens amid economic challenges and rising living costs.”
