Singapore Airlines (SIA) announced on August 7 that it will increase the frequency of flights to select major destinations from March to October 2024 to accommodate strong demand for air travel. The airline revealed that for some routes, flight frequencies will reach or exceed pre-pandemic levels.

Among the key changes, SIA will resume twice-weekly direct flights between Singapore and Barcelona, Spain, starting June 2, 2024. Additionally, the number of flights to and from Tokyo’s Haneda Airport will increase to four daily flights from September 1, 2024. Flights to Da Nang, Vietnam, will be ramped up to 14 times weekly beginning July 1, 2024.

The frequency of flights between Singapore and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates will also rise to 11 times weekly, surpassing pre-COVID-19 levels, effective March 31, 2024. Other routes, including Ahmedabad in India, Darwin and Perth in Australia, Copenhagen in Denmark, and Seattle and Houston in the United States, will see flight frequencies restored to pre-pandemic levels.

SIA plans to increase the number of flights between Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, currently at 47, to 66 by August 2024, solidifying its position on the second-busiest international route globally. A third daily service will be added for flights between Singapore and Beijing starting May 2024, restoring the number of flights to pre-pandemic levels.

Moreover, SIA will enhance its services by deploying larger aircraft on some routes. The airline’s superjumbo will return for daily flights to Frankfurt, Germany, beginning March 31, 2024. A significant upgrade will occur on flights to and from Cairns, Australia, where a 303-seat aircraft will replace a 154-seat one, marking the first time in two decades that a larger plane will be utilized. Medium-haul planes will also be introduced on flights between Singapore and Male in the Maldives from March 31, 2024.
