KK, known as The Krazy Koala on YouTube, has added another accomplishment to her diverse resume: she’s now part of the Singapore Armed Forces Volunteer Corps (SAFVC). In a recent YouTube video, the Singapore PR and content creator shared that joining the SAFVC had been on her mind for years, keeping it under wraps until her recent graduation.
The SAFVC allows women PRs, new citizens, and Singaporeans aged 18 to 45 to contribute to national defense. KK explained that her motivation to join was her deep appreciation for Singapore’s safety, efficiency, and environment. “After benefiting so much from this country, I felt it was time for me to contribute,” she shared, adding, “Being a soldier and part of the army is the best way to give back.”
The journey wasn’t easy. She faced rigorous training, from early mornings to carrying heavy weights, enduring limited phone access, and even altering her hair to meet requirements. Despite the challenges, KK feels the experience gave her a deeper understanding of Singapore’s culture, socioeconomics, and governance. “It made me realize nothing should be taken for granted, even simple comforts like daily showers,” she reflected.
KK’s resume is filled with achievements, from degrees at NYU, Columbia, and Insead, to travels in 181 countries, and authorship of two books. She now sees her volunteer role as an integral part of her journey, connecting her with the community in a new and meaningful way.
