SINGAPORE – A Singaporean worker recently shared her experience of corporate politics after receiving a promotion that led to unexpected resentment from her colleagues. Posting anonymously on the NUSWhispers Facebook page on June 19, she described feeling “wronged and upset” by the cold reception and growing hostility since her promotion.

The worker, who has been with her company for two years, explained that her dedication led to recognition and a promotion despite being the youngest in her department. However, colleagues began to turn against her, with one in particular spreading rumors that damaged her reputation. She said, “I have done nothing wrong… but someone is salty about it,” adding that she now feels isolated and dreads going to work.
