There’s no denying the culinary delights in Johor Bahru (JB), as evident from the traffic jams at the Causeway on weekends. But now, one of JB’s top zi char spots, Shan Ming, has brought its flavors to Singapore with the opening of its local outlet, Er Ge Seafood.
Launched in October, Er Ge Seafood is headed by Chef Lun, a renowned figure from Shan Ming, who promises the same fresh seafood experience. Er Ge even operates its own fishing boats to ensure top-quality seafood.
To welcome Singaporean diners, Er Ge Seafood is offering a 30% discount on their wild-caught fish until the end of November.
The restaurant’s highlight? A massive JB-style seafood platter, featuring 10 different dishes, crafted using Chef Lun’s heirloom recipes and over 20 years of expertise. Expect a feast that includes shark fin soup with abalone and crab meat, salted egg crabs, garlic pepper scallops, and Pontian wild king prawns. This 10-pax seafood spread is available for $788.80, and you can add an extra diner for $78.80. Be sure to book three days in advance.
Er Ge also offers JB’s famous Kam Long Ah Zai curry fish head ($28), served in a claypot with your choice of red snapper or ang go li fish head, topped with vegetables and tau pok, making it a must-try.
So far, reviews from local diners are glowing, with many praising the generous portions and freshness of the seafood. Dishes like the salted egg squid and fish curry have become instant favorites, with one diner even commenting, “The only regret is ordering too little, the food was too delicious!”
