A regular serviceman of the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) was found dead at Changi Naval Base on Monday (June 12), according to a statement from the Ministry of Defence (Mindef). The body was discovered around 8:50 a.m., prompting the activation of the Singapore Police Force and Singapore Civil Defence Force.

Preliminary investigations by the police suggest that foul play is not suspected, and the case has been classified as an unnatural death. Ongoing investigations are being conducted to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

“The Ministry of Defence and the SAF extend our deepest condolences to the family of the late serviceman and are assisting the family during this difficult time,” Mindef stated. Importantly, the ministry clarified that the death was not related to any training activities.
