“Tragic Discovery: Two Seniors Found Dead in Bukit Batok and Ang Mo Kio Homes “

The decomposing bodies of two senior citizens were discovered in their homes in Bukit Batok and Ang Mo Kio on Monday (Aug 5).

In the first case, a 72-year-old woman was found deceased in her cluttered three-room flat located at Block 146 Bukit Batok West Avenue 6, according to reports from Shin Min Daily News. A neighbor, surnamed Zeng, recounted that he last saw the woman about a week ago. After noticing a foul odor emanating from her unit last Friday, he knocked on her door twice—once on Saturday and again on Monday—but received no response. Concerned, he called the police, which led to the grim discovery.

Upon entry, authorities encountered piles of plastic bags, papers, furniture, and other debris that had accumulated in the unit. Town council cleaners were called in to clear a path through the clutter, which reached over 1.5 meters in height, allowing for the elderly woman’s body to be removed. The police reported that she was found unconscious inside and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Later that same morning, the body of a 69-year-old man was found in his flat at Block 323 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3. A neighbor named Judy mentioned that she had not seen him in the past four to five days but did not anticipate that he had passed away. The deceased’s stepdaughter and other family members were seen outside the unit, visibly distraught, with some family members breaking into tears upon exiting the flat.

The police confirmed that the man was found lying motionless in his unit and was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigations are ongoing, but foul play is not suspected in either case.
