Uncle Roger’s signature fried rice is now more affordable and even more accessible, with comedian Nigel Ng recently opening two new outlets in Kuala Lumpur. The new locations are at MyTown Shopping Centre, which launched on December 15, and IPC Shopping Centre, which opened the following day.
Addressing customer feedback regarding high prices at his original location, Nigel has dropped the cost of his popular fried rice and noodle dishes to RM16 (around S$4.84), down from RM18. According to The Rakyat Post, this decision reflects the 33-year-old UK-based comedian’s efforts to adjust to consumer demand.
In a playful TikTok video for Best Food Malaysia, Nigel joked about the price reduction, referencing MyTown’s shopping mix: “MyTown is not Pavilion… Pavilion’s ground floor has Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Hermes. MyTown has F.O.S, Focus Point and Mr DIY.” He continued, “Any mall that has Mr DIY… cannot charge RM18, too expensive.” The humorous clip had fans amused, particularly his light-hearted critique of the household goods chain and the mall itself.
Responding to feedback on social media, Nigel further clarified that the lower prices apply across all outlets and are not exclusive to MyTown. In an Instagram post, he confirmed: “Uncle Roger want to confirm all fried rice and noodle now RM16 at all outlets. Fuiyoh!”
He also hinted at exciting additions to the menu soon, suggesting that “nieces and nephews” could soon splurge on higher-priced options to impress their partners.
Fans on social media reacted enthusiastically to the price change and new locations, with many eager to try the well-loved fried rice at a more budget-friendly rate. It looks like Uncle Roger’s latest expansion will only make his brand even more popular in the region.
