SINGAPORE: Local actress Vivian Lai recently criticized a hospital for what she described as poor customer service and lack of respect toward patients. According to Shin Min Daily News, Lai took to Instagram to express her displeasure, posting two stories in Chinese, airing her grievances about the institution and its staff.
Translated, her posts said: “There’s no basic respect for patients, and you call yourself a doctor? Everyone, please don’t come here for treatment,” and “The more I think about it, the angrier I get! This place operates like a factory! We are humans, not machines!” Lai added that despite the hospital’s clean appearance and good reputation, she found the service disappointing, noting that doctors charged exorbitant fees and that the staff were rude.
Although she did not explicitly name the hospital, Lai gave enough clues for netizens to deduce its identity.
However, her complaints were met with mixed reactions online. Some netizens accused her of attention-seeking, criticizing her for not controlling her temper and for not being mindful of her public figure status. Others defended Lai, saying that as a patient, she had every right to express her frustrations, even if she’s a celebrity.
Aside from thanking a netizen who shared a similar unpleasant experience, Lai’s manager has stated that she currently prefers not to comment further on the matter.
