More details have surfaced about Li Ye, a 37-year-old Chinese national charged with the murder of a 56-year-old man at City Gate condominium on Beach Road. Li, originally from Sichuan, China, has two children, though sources indicate that the victim, who was also reportedly married with a daughter, was not their father.

The source shared with Shin Min Daily News that Li and the victim were in a close relationship for several years, with the victim frequently staying at her condominium and supporting her financially. The source also claimed the victim provided Li with a substantial monthly allowance and covered her children’s expenses, reportedly spending tens of thousands on her.

However, the relationship had reportedly soured a few months ago. A restaurant owner at City Gate, where the pair were regular patrons, noticed Li dining alone recently. Li allegedly told the owner that they had broken up following an argument.

Li moved to Singapore five years ago and initially supported herself with an online business. Recently, she took up a manager role at a nightlife venue near City Gate, working there up until the night before the alleged incident. On May 8, the day of the alleged murder, she did not report to work, and colleagues said they were unaware of any issues.
