The Workers’ Party (WP), led by its Secretary-General Pritam Singh and Chairperson Sylvia Lim, visited Bendemeer Market & Food Centre and Whampoa Market & Food Centre over the weekend for a community outreach effort in Jalan Besar GRC.

Joining them were other WP Members of Parliament, including Dennis Tan from Hougang SMC, Faisal Manap from Aljunied GRC, and He Ting Ru and Louis Chua from Sengkang GRC. Several candidates from previous elections, such as Fadli Fawzi and Abdul Shariff Aboo Kassim, were also present.

For Louis Chua, the visit to Bendemeer was especially meaningful, as he shared on Facebook that he had lived in the area during his early years. Chua reminisced about weekend trips to the market with his parents, fondly recalling the motorized kiddy cars and bikes that were a highlight of his childhood.

WP last contested the Jalan Besar GRC in 2015, securing 32% of the vote. In the 2020 General Election, Lim Tean’s People’s Voice contested the PAP team led by Josephine Teo, garnering 34% of the votes.
